Comic Con is a big convention where people get together to celebrate so many things. The first New York Comic Con was in 2006. It was and still is held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. You can go to booths, do fun activities, go to events, meet famous celebrities, and be around great people who like the things you like. I recently went with my dad and it was a wonderful experience.
I am a big fan of movies, video games, and comic books. When I grow up, I want to be a director or writer. So when I heard that I was going to Comic Con, I was very excited. Especially since I have been begging to go for a long time. Once I was in New York City, it still took a long time to get to the Javits Center. Too much walking for my taste. However, it was really worth it in the long run. As soon as I saw people in Ghostbusters costumes, I knew I had arrived. The sheer amount of people there was amazing! So many people were gathered in fast moving lines to get in.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I was very happy to see all of these fun activities. I got to shoot storm troopers with nerf-guns! An even better thing we did was meet Mark Hamill. My dad and I got bought tickets to have a picture with him. The line seemed like it would never end, but it moved surprisingly fast. Finally, I was there. As soon as I saw his face, I thought I wasn’t real. I never met anyone famous before. This man played Luke Skywalker! We shook his hand and he was very kind. He said thank you for coming, and that it was nice to meet us. I know he probably said the same thing to everybody else, but it was still awesome.
I felt like nothing could make this day get better, but it did. We walked around booths, bought comic books, played video games, and even met really nice people. I recommend Comic Con to anyone who is a fan of anything. They have events for everything. It was a magical experience and I am definitely going next year!

A superstition is a fake belief about certain things. Have you heard of the saying “step on a crack break your mama’s back”, or “step on a line break your mama's spine”? Those are superstitions. Superstitions were originally created long ago for various reasons.
Many people fear Friday the thirteenth. Fear of the number 13 is known as triskaidekaphobia. In fact so many people have triskaidekaphobia that most sky rise buildings skip the 13th floor and go from the 12th to 14th floors.
People are afraid of walking under ladders since a ladder leaning against a wall creates a triangle. In Egyptian history, triangles were sacred, and so disturbing that they were considered bad luck. Letting a black cat cross your path, walking under a ladder, and breaking a mirror are all other bad luck superstitions.
With Halloween and Friday the 13th both occurring in October, I’m sure many people will be very cautious of these old fables. But, remember that all of these superstitions are fake. Superstitions do not actually have any control over our lives. But, just to be safe, be extra careful on All Hallow’s Eve. Have a Happy Halloween, everyone!
