There is a complex history behind sandwiches. There was a duke called John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. This particular Earl loved to gamble and he was pretty good at it too. To reward his gambling streak he ordered a cook to put a slice of meat between 2 slices of bread. He realized that he had created a new food and he decided to name his new food the “sandwich” (since he was the Earl of Sandwich). That is a fun fact you may not have known about sandwiches. Here’s another fun fact – apparently, a wrap is considered a sandwich everywhere besides New York. I always thought a wrap was a burrito. My favorite sandwich is an almond butter and jelly sandwich with bananas. Now that you know about the history of the sandwich, here is a recipe you should try.

1. Toast the bread after slathering in butter
2. Layer on all the ingredients on the bread slices
3. Toast sandwich until cheese has melted slightly.
